Congratulations on your engagement!
Here’s something we think you should know: planning your wedding can be stress-free and enjoyable. It doesn’t need to be a logistical nightmare or cost a fortune. You just need someone, like us, who can steer you in the right direction.
We believe that great food & drink, music, and guest enjoyment are the elements that make or break an event, so focus on these and you’ll have a day to remember!
Craft a delicious catering menu
We’re slightly biased about this one. But it’s still true that food and drink are an important part of a great wedding. After all, so much about a wedding is the celebration after the formal ceremony.
So, first, remember you can do whatever you fancy.
Want an all-vegetarian or vegan wedding menu? Do it.
Want street food wedding catering? Why not.
Fancy a fine dining experience? We can make it happen.
Prefer to eat a family favourite dish? Go for it.
Perhaps an outdoor BBQ wedding menu? Try it.
Not a fan of cake or don’t want to cut the cake? Skip it. Try a dessert table instead – fill it with treats you like.
And not forgetting the drinks…
If you can, indulge in an open bar – it can be more affordable than you think. Offer a tapered-down bar: bottled beers, wine, a favourite spirit, and maybe a signature cocktail. A smaller bar like this also cuts down on glass hire. Companies like Majestic Wines offer sale or return so you can get a refund on anything you don’t drink and not have to worry about running out on the day.
Use music to create the right vibe
People tend to think about music as something for just evening entertainment but there’s so much more you can do with it. Set the tone for the wedding early with some music during the drinks reception. If you’re having an outdoor drinks reception, an acoustic musician can really create a laidback vibe. But, if the budget doesn’t stretch that far, a considered playlist and some good-quality speakers would still do the job. It’ll give the venue some atmosphere. We all know how awkward it feels when somewhere is too quiet! Music also helps people feel more relaxed and gives them a talking point while mingling.
Make your guests feel truly welcome
It’s your special day, but it’s important your guests have a great time too. Making your guests feel valued by keeping them entertained whilst you’re off having photos is a great way to start. From simple lawn games to hiring a magician or caricaturist the options are endless.
Your guests have taken the time to be with you, so make sure you find time for them! Don’t be afraid to get up during the wedding breakfast and chat with friends and family between courses. Another great idea is to have a photo with each table or group of people as you move around. Essentially, host your day!
Think about your guests’ comfort
- No one likes being cold – check what heating is available at the venue (and that your suppliers know how to find it!). If you’re outdoors, do you need to hire some additional heating? And if the weather isn’t looking great, have some blankets and umbrellas on standby.
- Do you have enough comfy seating? Not everyone loves dancing or, if you’re getting family/friends together for the first time in ages, they might just want to chat and catch up for a while.
- Be thoughtful with your choice of soft drinks and non-alcoholic options – not everyone will be drinking and they’ll appreciate having other options than the usual orange juice, lemonade, or coke.
- Have a water station throughout the day so people can stay hydrated – big Kilner jars with ice and lemon are such a simple way to do this.
- Let your guests know the order of the day, everyone likes to know what time dinner will be served.
